Whitney Poulin
Hometown: Berwick, Maine
Current home: Gypsy life, bouncing between ME and NH building
Years riding: 7
Sponsors: Coffee and Dirt
Favourite trail/spot: Highland will always be home for me, but I do love some black magic at killington!
How’d you get into biking?
I had always been an adrenaline seeker. My background was snowboarding and after my second ACL surgery I was living in Steamboat Springs Colorado. I wanted to try downhill because we had some pretty decent trails there and with all the suspension, it was less resistant on the knees ya know? Literally took one lap and it was all over from there. I literally would spend as much time as I could borrowing gear and riding until I moved back home and found Highland.

How long how you been trail building? And how did you get into trail building?
Trail building with a machine is actually fairly new to me. I was excavating and landscaping for 5 years before I got the offer to come work for gravity logic. Now a days you will find me digging more than riding my bike but I still find time and I don’t’ mind! I might be slightly obsessed with my job….

Now you that you get to travel and earn some bacon trail building, where is the number one spot you want to go?
New Zealand FASHO
What’s your favourite trail you’ve worked on/built and why?
I had a blast in Oregon helping start a big build for Timberline Bike Park on mt hood. Its still in its development stages but I see some great things coming. I'm really excited to see what we get done for the beginning of 2019 season at Thunder Bike Park in Mass. An XL Feature trail is already in the works and those jumps are going to be huge!
FOLLOWING THE DREAMS REQUIRES SOME SACRIFICES, OR DOES IT…?!!
Hanging out with the amigos digging often leads to lots of shenanigans, got any funny stories for us?
Haha oh boy we don’t have any fun *wink* *wink* no interview appropriate worthy funny stories but In Oregon I did get to go snowboarding and ride bikes down trail to the bar and that was pretty cool. If you havn’t had a huckleberry margarita from the taco shoppe in government camp I highly suggest it :P

2 bikes, 2 friends and a boombox….. people are things, right? 😉
Any plans to start your own company?
Possibly, but for now I’m happy digging for GL and also getting to work with friends who have trail building companies of their own *cough* powder horn trail company
You have some steez on a bike, do you have any goals for 2019?
Staying alive while successfully landing a suicide….
Any shoutouts?
Highland MBP for being the foundation of my riding and my forever home. Gravity Logic for giving me an awesome new career opportunity, my bike family and biological family for the endless support.🤘🏻
Whitney also wanted to give a shoutout to each of her bikes, but didn’t want to seem like a crazy cat lady! I don’t think it’s crazy, I think it’s awesome!! Bikes give us such joy and help us evolve into awesome mountain people, gratitude is always nice!! #crazybikelady ftw!! ~WFM
